Church Executive Magazine will lead an educational panel discussion — “From Texting to Twitter: Know Your Risks” — at the 2014 National Association of Church Business Administration (NACBA) 58th Annual Conference.
The conference and panel discussion will take place at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando, FL, on Tuesday, 15 July 2014 from 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Why Social Media Risk Management?
Social media is changing how churches operate. Yet, few clergy recognize the potential risk it poses to their churches’ legal and financial health.
To that end, this moderated panel discussion will enlist the expertise of several carefully selected marketing, legal, insurance, risk management and megachurch social media experts.
Get the Tools You Need
Together, this consortium will analyze the impact of recent court decisions stemming from social media use, as well as offer sample social media policies, procedures and practices.
- What security risks are involved in church Tweets, Facebook posts, etc.?
- What does an established social media policy look like?
- What special coverage and policies are available to address social media use by churches?
The panel will be moderated by Robert Erven Brown, coordinator of the Nonprofit Practice Group at Ridenour Hienton, PLLC in Phoenix. Brown is also the Church Executive “Risk Management Realities” blogger.
A social media risk management “starter kit” of materials (articles, sample policies, checklists, etc.) will be made available to all who attend this special panel event.
