Central Christian’s four campuses

Our Mesa campus moved to its current 33-acre site in October 1986. We have three major buildings and five portable buildings totaling 144,000 square feet. The last permanent building was opened in 1996. We currently see about 3,500 people each weekend on our Mesa campus. Mesa is growing 3 to 5 percent rate per year since we opened Gilbert in October 2007. The Mesa campus has experienced the greatest amount of change with our next project being a children’s facility that will replace our portable buildings.

Our Gilbert campus opened in October 2007 on about 29 acres of our 160-acre plot. We have four permanent buildings totaling 98,000 square feet. We currently see more than 4,000 people each weekend. Gilbert grew at the rate of 30 percent the first year, 15 percent the second year, and 10 percent the third year of operation. This growth slowed as we reached capacity in our worship center in our two Sunday morning services. A third Sunday morning service has been added which has accounted for most of our growth there the past year (our fastest growing service). Our next project in Gilbert will be a larger worship center and a new children’s facility.

The Queen Creek campus was opened in September 2010 in our only rented facility. It is located in the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, adjacent to the Queen Creek High School, giving us access to the high school rooms for children and students. Between 500 and 600 people worship there each Sunday. Our intention was to open this site to alleviate the congestion on our Gilbert campus, but it just hasn’t happened. We are currently looking for land in Queen Creek.

The CrossPoint campus was adopted on January 1, 2011. They are running about 800 each week in attendance on a 34-acre site with a single building of about 38,000 square feet. We have not been there long enough to see any attendance trends, but anticipate they will grow 60 to 100 percent in the next two years, just as they did the previous two years. Our first major project in Glendale will be to complete the classrooms on the second floor of the building.          — JS
