Conference aims to reshape traditional family ministry model

ATLANTA /Christian Newswire The Orange Conference, scheduled for April 24-26 in Atlanta, is expected to draw together more than 5,500 ministry leaders to discover new strategies for sharing God’s truth with the next generation. With the theme “Focus,” conference organizers say attendees will discover what it means to “clarify the essentials and eliminate distractions.”

Orange Conference attendees will hear from top-level speakers, who will share insight from past successes and failures. They will also be able to choose from more than 100 specialized workshops in 21 customized tracks. Five Orange Interactives have been added this year for those who have never used Orange resources and curriculum before, or need a refresher course. Multiple networking events are also provided for attendees to talk with and learn from church leaders, innovators and speakers.

One of the main attractions this year is the Gallery, an interactive museum divided into three main areas — preschool, children’s and students. Each section will use the common thread of wonder, discovery and passion – Orange’s three key concepts and teaching tools.

Confirmed speakers include: Andy Stanley, Perry Noble, Charles Jenkins, Reggie Joiner, Bob Goff, Doug Fields, Jon Acuff, Sue Miller, Carey Nieuwhof, Kara Powell, and Sherry Surratt. In total, more than 80 distinguished speakers will present fresh ideas and innovative ministry concepts.

Drawing together speakers, authors, and church leaders from around the world, Orange sets out to rethink the way the traditional church model approaches family ministry, according to the organizers. The event is structured around the Orange strategy of partnering families with the church to have a greater impact on the faith of young people, who are leaving the church at an alarming rate. “Thinking Orange” blends two vital, yet often unconnected worlds to reshape the current ministry model.
