
“If we take up the cross handsomely, we shall find it just such a burden as wings are to a bird.” So wrote Samuel Rutherford, Scottish Presbyterian theologian an author in the 1600s.
Even as some contemporary churches forsook crosses and other imagery on their buildings, for fear of alienating non-believers, other churches continue to raise the cross of Christ higher.
