HELP!

By Mike Klockenbrink

I love to listen to music. For me it’s not just the beat, it’s the lyrics. What was going on when the writer wrote the song? One song that has meant a lot to me over the years is the Beatles “Help.” The difference from 20 years ago and today is that I can truly relate to this song. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t need help. I fully understand that God has designed us to be in a relationship with him and others. We cannot do it by ourselves, but together we can accomplish the mission.

One of the greatest strengths of a leader is to know when to ask for help.
So as you read the lyrics to this song, ask yourself these questions; when was the last time I asked for help? Was I open to accept it? Who do I turn to for answers or support? Who’s my wingman?

The Beatles – Help!

Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody’s help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I’m not so self assured,
Now I find I’ve changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I’m feeling down
and I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
won’t you please, please help me?

And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
my independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I’ve never done before.

Help me if you can, I’m feeling down
and I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
won’t you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh.
